Session Description:
Recent IODP expeditions have made significant contributions to understanding the Cenozoic tectonic and climatic history of the Indian Ocean and environs. This session considers all aspects of the regional tectonic and climatic (including monsoonal), and intraplate aspects of these advances in the context of Himalayan orogenesis, uplift/denudation and sediment flux to the Bengal and Nicobar fans, including the Indo-Burman Range, Andaman Islands and Sumatra. Whilst this session focuses on IODP research results, we also encourage contributions from land-based researchers working in this region.
