Interactions Between Active Tectonics and Surface Processes in South and East Asia and Implications for Future Geological Hazards
Session ID#: 31636
Session Description:
South and East Asia region is among the most tectonically active regions in the world. Over the past several decades, many destructive earthquakes have struck the area, and illustrated an urgent need for further understanding of the active tectonic processes across various temporal and spatial scales. Moreover, such neotectonic processes would interact with atmospheric and earth surface processes in driving the development of topography and shaping the landscape. In this session, we seek contributions from scientists who work on all aspects of such interactions, from tectonic drivers to surface interactions among these forces. We encourage submissions from scientists in all related disciplines, including paleoseismology, tectonic geomorphology, seismology, geodesy, and modeling. Submissions focusing on the tectonic-surface process interactions beyond South and East Asia are also welcome as well.
