Climate Drivers of Infectious Disease: Past, Present, and Future I

Session Description:
Climate change will likely impact the incidence of infectious diseases through multiple pathways. The range and location of vector-borne diseases are altered by the climate, the transmission of airborne diseases is affected by local weather, and the extent to which human beings carry pathogens to new locations is a function of climate-driven migration and displacement. The potential effect of these changes on human health is severe, necessitating interdisciplinary efforts to understand and mitigate these risks. We invite presentations that explore both historic and projected future relationships between climate and disease, as well as methods for predicting and preparing for climate-related disease outbreaks of endemic and/or emerging pathogens. Submissions are encouraged from a wide variety of disciplines including but not limited to weather, climate, public health, medicine, history, biology, and policy.
