Session Description:
Access to authoritative, usable, relevant science is necessary for decision makers to successfully navigate the challenges of climate and global change. Assessments that synthesize and develop new findings from across scientific disciplines with relevance to regional/local conditions are essential to this decision-making process. This session will highlight recent progress in climate and global change assessment, as well as related tools and initiatives, at the international, national, tribal, and local levels. Presentations will explore different approaches to assessment, provide examples of capacity building and/or successful community engagement, and showcase new tools to assist in the assessment and decision support processes.
