Earthquake Source Properties Inferred from Macroscopic Earthquake Source Parameters and Seismicity Parameters II

Session Description:
Macroscopic earthquake source parameters (e.g. stress drop, radiated energy, moment tensor, and magnitude) inferred from seismic data reflect the physics of the fault rupture process and fault properties such as stress on the fault and fault strength. Therefore source parameters are useful to understand rupture processes and fault properties and hence, to assess earthquake hazard. Moreover, statistical analyses of seismicity (e.g. b-value of the Gutenberg-Richter relation) are showing their potential as an indicator of fault properties. To further promote this research, we need both accurate estimates of the source and the seismicity parameters and appropriate interpretations. This session aims to gather and integrate earthquake source parameter and seismicity studies to improve our knowledge of, for example, earthquake rupture dynamics, fault properties, tectonics, and seismic hazard assessment. We welcome theoretical, numerical, observational, and experimental contributions to improve the estimation and interpretation of source parameters and seismicity parameters.
