Observations and Modeling of the Upper Troposphere and Lower Stratosphere III
Session ID#: 33356
Session Description:
The upper troposphere/lower stratosphere (UT/LS) region of the atmosphere plays an important role in Earth’s radiative balance and climate, and is a region of significant chemistry-climate coupling. Understanding the processes controlling the composition and structure of the UT/LS is crucial to predicting future changes and their resulting feedback in the climate system. In this session, we welcome papers that utilize in situ measurements, satellite observations and/or modeling analyses considering either present or future climates to explore new developments regarding the understanding of fundamental UTLS processes and the interaction of the UTLS with climate. Abstract submissions on the full range of UTLS topics are encouraged, including dynamics, transport and mixing, chemical composition, the abundance and distribution of water vapor and aerosols, and cirrus cloud properties and processes.
