Laboratory Studies in Atmospheric Sciences III

Session Description:
Laboratory studies are fundamental to developing the knowledge needed to understand atmospheric chemistry over a broad range of conditions and environments and applying that knowledge to observations and models of Earth’s atmosphere. This session focuses on presentations of laboratory studies in areas including, but not limited to: gas-phase kinetics and product studies (e.g. reactions involving OH, Cl, O3, NO3, Criegee intermediates), heterogeneous chemistry (e.g. reactive uptake, interfacial processes), aqueous phase chemistry (e.g. hydrolysis, photochemistry), chamber studies (e.g. VOC oxidation), spectroscopy (e.g. cross sections, quantum yields), aerosol properties (e.g. SOA formation and aging, nucleation), and reaction mechanism development (e.g. isoprene, monoterpenes, VOCs). The primary focus of this session is on studies in which the laboratory effort plays a central role in producing scientific results. Modeling and theoretical studies that incorporate laboratory data or that present results for conditions where no laboratory data exist (thereby motivating future laboratory experiments) are also encouraged.
