Session Description:
The vast progresses in outer-space observation (via the Kepler telescope, Juno mission, etc) in recent years have inspired unprecedented enthusiasm toward understanding planetary interiors. Dynamic and static compression experiments together with computer simulations have demonstrated tremendous abilities in emulating the extreme pressure, temperature conditions and uncovering mysteries in astrophysics. This session focuses on exploring the deep interiors of giant planets, exoplanets, and their moons. We welcome contributions reporting high-pressure experiments, ab initio simulations, and theory/other numerical studies on the mineral physics of the planet interiors. Topics include equation of state, phase transformation, transport properties, and so forth. This session offers a bridge between the community of computational and experimental mineralogy and planetary science.
