Applications of GRACE, Models, and Monitoring for Water Resources Assessment I

Session Description:
There have been significant advances in the use of GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) satellite data in conjunction with ground-based monitoring and/or modeling at regional, national, and global scales to assess spatiotemporal variations in water resources. However, there are still significant uncertainties associated with selecting appropriate applications and interpretations of GRACE data for monitoring change in water storage at different temporal and spatial scales. In this session, we invite papers on studies that utilize GRACE satellite data, modeling, and/or monitoring to assess GRACE utility and/or examine variations in water resources within the context of droughts, floods, or sustainability. While studies from global to regional scales are appropriate, we would like to highlight work in well-studied regions such as North America where there are more detailed modeling and monitoring data available for constraint and comparison.
