Mountain Peak to Seafloor: Processes, Interactions, and Feedbacks Between Sediment Supply and Landscape Evolution I

Session Description:
The supply of sediment is crucial in controlling morphodynamics and landscapes across all scales. Long-term climatic/tectonic/land-use trends can drive changes in sediment production and supply across entire landscapes while dams (natural or anthroprogenic) can alter the shorter and medium-term dynamics of sediment transport in individual basins. Understanding these interactions and feedbacks are critical for predicting the future evolution of these systems that are often at, or near, a threshold state. This session aims to aid the development of a comprehensive understanding of sediment supply in driving and limiting the rate of landscape evolution in different settings and across different scales. This could be by considering, for example; sediment production, transport, erosion and deposition from sediment source to sediment sink. We encourage contributions that use one or more, but not limited to, the following approaches: theoretical development, field observations, physical experiments or numerical modelling.
