Sediment Dynamics Across Landscapes: Steep and Low-Relief Terrains III

Session Description:
Understanding landscape evolution requires coupling sediment transport processes across high- and low-relief terrains. As mountains give way to plains, changes in slope lead to changes in the surface processes that shape landscapes: rocky hillslopes dominated by mass wasting become soil-mantled and diffusive, while streams self-adjust their morphology going from boulder-mantled cascades to sand-bedded meandering rivers. This session aims to highlight work tackling erosion and sediment transport in steep landscapes, with an emphasis on landscape connectivity and process transitions. We welcome submissions that incorporate field, experimental, theoretical, or modeling approaches to topics such as: hillslope-channel coupling, sediment transport in steep channels, and whole landscape and synthesis studies.
