Session Description:
Nano- and micro-scale analytical techniques (LASS, SIMS, EPMA, EBSD, TEM, APT, etc.) allow radiometric dates (e.g., U-Pb) to be obtained from the same volume of material as mineral orientation and composition. Such datasets can be used to study a range of important processes at the mineral, orogen, and planet scales. This session coincides with the launch of the AGU monograph “Microstructural Geochronology” and focuses on the collection, statistical analysis, modeling, and interpretation of petrochronologic data.
