What Can Inclusions Tell Us? II

Session Description:
Crystal, melt, and fluid inclusions preserve a record of the P-T-X conditions of the geologic environment at the time of entrapment. Inclusions thus allow us to develop tectonic models, identify chemical disequilibrium, unravel igneous processes, and decipher crust and mantle dynamics. This session is dedicated to the application of high-resolution analytical methods (e.g., x-ray diffraction, micro-Raman, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) to inclusions in igneous, mantle, and metamorphic rocks, in order to interrogate geologic processes from the shallow crust to the deep mantle. We encourage submissions that utilize mineral, fluid, and melt inclusions to decipher perturbations in pressure and/or temperature during mineral growth, and to assess fluid flux and transport. Submissions that integrate petrologic constraints with structural, deformation, and/or temporal (absolute and relative) context are highly encouraged.
