The exciting field of drone application provides scientists with the tools to help with a large number of societal and environmental problems. This field trip will take up to 40 people to a local field operation area, where they can launch and recover 4-6 different unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) — fixed wing or multirotor; hand-launched or rail-launched; first person view or mapping payloads; various sizes. Attendees will then go to Nicholls State University for an hour-long demonstration on postprocessing steps, and spend another hour analyzing the data.
