Session Description:
We invite everyone with an interest in testing models for magma bodies, their coupling to hydrothermal systems, their detection by geophysical and geochemical means, and the direct monitoring of volcanoes through sensors in magma to participate in this free-ranging discussion. Bring your experiences, results, plans, and dreams or just listen in to think about what drilling through the brittle-ductile boundary to the solidus and on to mobile magma could do for you! We will also use this time to summarize commonalities and differences from magma drilling at Puna, Hawaii; Krafla, Iceland; and Menengai, Kenya that were presented Monday morning in poster session NH11A.
