U33A:
Grand Challenges in Rock and Paleomagnetism

Note: Abstract submissions to Union sessions are by invitation only.

Session ID#: 43678

Session Description:
The American Geophysical Union will be 100 years old next year and has launched a major campaign to celebrate this milestone. It is an opportunity for all of us to reflect on our past and envision the possibilities the next century will bring. With this perspective, the session invites studies relating to our discipline’s 'Grand Challenges' – challenges which have been met, or must still be met, to gain vital insights about sedimentary and tectonic processes, environmental redox conditions during sedimentation, diagenesis, biological activity, the past magnetic field, and other topics of similar scope and importance.
