Use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in Atmospheric Science II Posters

Session Description:
Unmanned aerial systems are significantly expanding observational perspectives in atmospheric science. With rapid growth in the variety of UAS applications and available instruments, opportunities for UAS platforms to provide high-quality atmospheric measurements continue to increase. Evidence of this is provided by the large number of recent community workshops held by various agencies supporting atmospheric science (NOAA, NASA, DOE, NSF/NCAR) and the continued growth of the international society supporting such research (, International Society for Atmospheric Research using Remotely piloted Aircraft). This session invites contributions on atmospheric research using UAS platforms including the development of new missions and advanced instrumentation, the interpretation of campaign datasets that address fundamental research questions in atmospheric science, the enhancement of the operational observational network, and the use of UAS data to inform and evaluate weather and climate models.
