Beyond Ice Thickness: Using Radar Sounding to Understand the Dynamics of Glacier Systems Posters

Session Description:
Few methods allow the direct observation of thermal, hydrological, and geological processes acting below the surface of glaciers and ice sheets. Radar sounding provides a powerful geophysical technique for understanding these processes. Research efforts are underway to develop and apply techniques that leverage the geometric and radiometric information in radar sounding data to constrain properties of the ice column and bed. The growing archive of sounding data provides spatial and temporal information not only about bed topography, but also ice temperature, englacial and basal hydrology, and ice flow dynamics. This session explores the application of radar sounder data to questions of ice dynamics, and we invite abstracts reporting all aspects of radar development, data analysis, and model-data integration.
