Mapping Impact: Techniques and Technologies for Displaying and Communicating Global to Local Solutions to Environmental Change Posters

Session Description:
Spatial and temporal mapping visualizations are powerful tools not only to elucidate global change processes, but also to highlight and communicate the local solutions being implemented by communities around the world. This session will focus on the technologies, techniques (lessons learned and best practices), and practical resources available to engage various publics about global to local change and the adaptation or resilience strategies used to confront it. Topics covered may include how maps, dashboards, visualizations and story maps are being or have been used to effectively: (1) display environmental change issues at multiple scales across space and time; (2) show where and how community action is taking place or being prioritized; and (3) quantify the impact of solutions from global to local scales across space and time. We invite submissions from practitioners across all research, private, educational, and governmental backgrounds to stimulate conversations across varying communities of practice.
