Session Description:
Indicators are an interdisciplinary medium for conveying the status and trends of environmental and human health conditions over time. Often of national and international importance, indicators offer objective, scientific evidence for making sound decisions. Indicators also serve as key measures for communicating and managing past, present, and future ecological and public health concerns. This session will feature presentations on recent advances in indicator development, application, interpretation, and prediction, with an emphasis on the value and impact of indicators in environmental health decisions. Presentations will provide the context and purpose for using indicators and examples of indicator analyses and visualizations. The session will build awareness of both national and international indicator efforts and allow for a productive exchange of information among indicator practitioners.
