Cyclostratigraphy and Astrochronology in Deep Time Posters

Session Description:
Astronomically forced climate change represents heartbeats of the Earth’s climate system. Studies of these heartbeats lead to established tools such as cyclostratigraphy and astrochronology allowing high-resolution geological time scale and better understanding of paleoclimate change. Flourishing cyclostratigraphic projects on Cenozoic and Mesozoic paleoclimate provide an emerging amount of high resolution data. Applying cyclostratigraphic techniques into the Paleozoic and Precambrian is among the next “frontiers” in the study of cyclostratigraphy. This session aims to highlight recent advances in cyclostratigraphy in deep time.
We encourage contributions to the ongoing challenges in the cyclostratigraphy: reconstruction of the Earth orbit beyond the Cenozoic; linkages between astronomical forcing and paleoclimate proxies; confirmation of astronomical origin of stratigraphic oscillations; signal-to-noise ratio of paleoclimate proxies; distortion of the astronomical signals due to depositional and post-depositional processes; and the integration of cyclostratigraphy with other geochronometers.
