The Significance of Late Accretion for Composition and Early Evolution of the Terrestrial Planets I Posters

Session Description:
The late growth history of the terrestrial planets, from terminal collisions of planetary embryos to the subsequent bombardment with smaller objects, is of critical importance for understanding early planetary differentiation processes and the evolution of early atmospheres, oceans, surfaces, and planetary interiors. The goal of this interdisciplinary session is to present and discuss research on the late accretion history of the Earth, its Moon, and other terrestrial planets with particular focus on processes that occurred between 4.5 and 3.8 billion years ago. Recent progress on this topic has been achieved by innovative approaches in computational sciences, laboratory experiments, planetary sample analysis, and observations and modeling of remote sensing data from recent space missions. We invite contributions from the fields of planetary sciences, geophysics, geochemistry, petrology and mineral physics that address different aspects of this topic.
