International Science Addressing Global Agenda 2030

Session Description:
The Global Agenda 2030 includes the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and related issues. This is an important and complex intersecting Agenda covering a wide range of scientific, all sciences, issues. There is need for internationally coordinated science to address these issues. Presently, there are global programs including the World Climate Research Programme, Future Earth: Research, Innovation, Sustainability, Integrated Research on Disaster Risk and Urban Health and Well Being as well as the World Data System and global observational programs. This session will have presentations on and discussions of internationally coordinated scientific programs and the related assessment processes (IPCC, IPBES, …) and how the science community can even more effectively work together to address these policy issues and bring together science, globally and across the disciplines, which is needed.
