Advances in Radar Remote Sensing of Clouds and Precipitation: Microphysical Retrievals, Estimation, and Hydrometeorological Applications II Posters

Session Description:
Radar remote sensing of clouds and precipitation is an active and vibrant field with numerous accomplishments resulting in practical hydrometeorological applications. Many processing steps are needed to convert raw radar observations into useful geophysical quantities that require the knowledge of radar technology and atmospheric science. This session focuses on the sciences that convert state-of-the-art radar observations into geophysical quantities that can be used as inputs to many applications including hydrologic, weather, and cloud resolving models. This session will also feature papers devoted to extreme natural hazards, ranging from severe weather processes, all the way to high-resolution precipitation detection and flood applications of remote sensing and in-situ observations. Submissions are solicited covering but not limited to:

-Scanning and vertically pointing radars from S- to W-band

-Identification of hydrometeor phase in polarimetric and Doppler spectra radar measurements

-Network or field campaign observations monitoring clouds and/or precipitation

-Radar/multi-sensor-based products suitable for real-time operations
