Toward a More Resilient Global Society

Session Description:
Six thematic presentations at the science-society interface: floods, droughts, extreme weather, earthquakes, coastal inundation, air&water quality. The focus is on current and short-term societal impacts in each area, complementing other meeting offerings on longer-term change (such as climate change and energy transitions). Invited speakers are experts in their fields with demonstrated use-based science approaches.  Instead of traditional post-talk question periods, a ~25min speaker panel will respond to pre-session and syn-session questions through audience email submissions (efbvdp@gmail.com). The societally-relevant theme and approach of this session aim to serve the research community, students, media and policy-makers.
