High-Resolution Paleoclimate and Paleoenvironmental Records from Africa: Providing Context for Human Evolution and Dispersal from the Pliocene to the Present Posters

Session Description:
Significant discoveries related to human evolution and dispersals out of Africa are expanding at a rapid pace. This is being driven, in part, by advances in modern and ancient human genomics as well as the increasing spatial and temporal resolution of the archaeological record. At the same time, new and established paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental proxy records are becoming available from locations and at temporal resolutions appropriate for testing human evolutionary hypotheses. These advances allow for more direct comparisons between the archaeological and environmental records. This session aims to collect and present high-resolution paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental studies from and near Africa that are suitable for testing relevant human evolution and dispersal hypotheses. We encourage submissions using stratigraphic, geophysical, geochemical, paleoecological, and modeling approaches that can further our understanding of connections between paleoenvironmental history and human origins.
