Session Description:
Natural, anthropogenic and biogenic air emissions are common throughout the globe. The emission concentrations vary depending on sources, transport patterns and meteorological conditions. The resulting air pollution and degradation to air quality can severely impact public health and mortality rates - indeed, poor air quality has been listed by the WHO as the primary driver of premature death in the Global Burden of Disease analysis. Against the backdrop of changing climate and extreme weather scenario, an increasing body of research has linked emissions, air quality and public health to be of critical socio-economic concern. This session invites presentations on emerging fields, space-borne measurements, lab studies and modeling aspects related to air quality, toxic gases, volatile organic compounds, surface ozone, particulate matter, and pollen on public health effects, mortality, and mitigation strategies in urban cities.
