Gravity Waves in the Mesosphere, Thermosphere, and Ionosphere Posters

Session Description:
Atmospheric gravity waves (GWs) are important in the mesosphere, thermosphere, and ionosphere because they transport significant momentum and energy, communicate influences of tropospheric weather to higher altitudes, exhibit strong multi-scale interactions, induce local accelerations and secondary waves where they dissipate, and excite traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) and other ionospheric responses. Abstracts are solicited on the modeling and observational topics at all latitudes on (a) GW excitation by sources in the lower, middle and upper atmosphere, including deep convection, orography, body forces, wave breaking, and spontaneous emission, (b) propagation, dissipation, and breaking of GWs in the middle and upper atmosphere, c) TIDs and other plasma responses to GWs, (d) GW effects on the regional flow and global circulation, and (e) interactions of GWs with planetary waves and tides.
