Earth Observation Applications in Support of Global Policy Frameworks Posters

Session Description:
Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including ending poverty and hunger in all their forms, requires a holistic approach in order to comprehensively tackle the threats posed by climate change as well as natural and man-made hazards. The effective use of Earth observations and geospatial information is essential to help countries monitor, measure, and report progress on global policy frameworks, including the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, and the Paris Climate Agreement. This session focuses on sharing use cases of successful Earth observation applications that illustrate an interconnected approach to achieve gains across sustainable development, disaster risk reduction, and climate action including: Earth observation methods, products, tools, and technologies in support of global reporting on, and national implementation of, the aforementioned frameworks; and opportunities for further action, including scaling of successful methods, to promote a sustainable, climate resilient, and risk informed future.
