Session Description:
The 2018 midterm elections have changed the political landscape in Washington. In addition, the past several years have seen new forms of scientific community engagement, from local to national marches, new organizations, and other efforts.  This session will explore the science policy environment, from policies that impact the integrity of science both in and outside of the federal government, to the capacity and conditions for science and scientists working within the federal government, to an increasingly uncertain funding landscape. The session will also call attention to how the scientific enterprise will be shaped going forward, particularly considering the upcoming 116th Congress, and what scientists are doing and can do to effectively influence the political process.
