Small Satellites Have Scientific Value, but Where Do They Fit In? I Posters

Session Description:
The scientific community and government funding agencies are evaluating the capabilities, limitations, and potential of CubeSats, small satellites, and small satellite constellations for science and long-term data record gap mitigation. Small satellites have demonstrable and in some cases unique scientific value. Their strengths and limitations, which are rapidly evolving as new technologies are developed and demonstrated, are not generally well understood. This session seeks to highlight the state of the art in CubeSat and small satellite science and enabling technologies, specifically as applied to Earth and space science. We invite domestic and international contributions presenting science results obtained from small satellite missions, significant new enabling technologies, commercial platforms and efforts that can be used for scientific research, and new mission concepts that are uniquely suited to small satellites.
