Session Description:
The Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) is a set of coordinated, independent Earth observation, information and processing systems that interact and provide access to diverse information for a broad range of users in both public and private sectors. The GEOSS Platform links together these systems to strengthen the monitoring of the state of the Earth while ensuring that these data are accessible, of identified quality and provenance, and interoperable to support the development of tools and the delivery of information services.
Functionalities of the GEOSS Platform, such as the enhanced GEOSS Portal, and the discovery and access broker (DAB), are connecting providers and users of Earth observations to both increase our understanding of Earth processes and enhance predictive capabilities that underpin sound decision-making. This Session focuses on services and applications that make use of the GEOSS Platform to provide solutions to environmental and social challenges faced by society.
