Proterozoic Snowball Earth Events Posters

Session Description:
Multiple global glaciations, termed as snowball Earth events, occurred near both the beginning and the end of the Proterozoic Eon (2500 Ma â 541 Ma). These were not only the most extreme climate events, but also were associated with significant rise of atmospheric oxygen, and the evolution of life. Understanding how they were initiated and terminated and determining their extent are of tremendous importance for understanding the stability of the climate system and operation of carbon cycle. Despite the significant progress that has been made during the past 20 years, there are still many ambiguities in both modeling and observations. We call for contributions that, from any aspect, help us understand snowball Earth events of either the Paleoproterozoic or the Neoproterozoic.
