SA33C:
Understanding Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances (TIDs) Posters
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 51374
Session Description:
Traveling ionospheric disturbances (TIDs) are an important part of the upper atmospheric variability. They occur on a regular basis across high, mid-, and equatorial latitudes. They are believed to be a manifestation of atmospheric waves such as AGWs and most of the known TID properties are well within the expected regime of AGWs. Excitation sources of TIDs/AGWs are numerous, but may be classified as from âaboveâ and âbelow.â This session will provide a forum for reporting recent progress on TID studies and envisioning future research directions. We solicit contributions on various TID topics including: LSTIDs and storm-time traveling atmosphere disturbances (TADs), MSTIDs and E-F region electrodynamic coupling at mid- and low latitudes, man-made space weather induced TIDs, TIDs associated with the solar terminator, solar eclipse, and solar flares. Reports of ground-based and in-situ observations as well as simulations of ionosphere-thermosphere disturbances associated with TIDs are all welcome.
