Attribution Science Advancements: Atmosphere, Cryosphere, Hydrosphere, Ocean Posters

Session Description:
Attribution studies are increasingly able to tease apart natural variability, global change, and other human influences.  For example, disentangling and attributing respective contributions to relative sea level change from each ice sheet, median glaciers, glacial-isostatic adjustment, and subsidence or attributing the changing return period for Hurricane Harvey-level rainfall, and increases in summertime heat stress.  Propelled by these advances, the scientific community is increasingly asked to separate complex dynamics (e.g., the contribution of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions to changes in the behavior of the polar stratospheric jet and the influence of ocean acidification and other human factors on fisheries). As part of the AGU Centennial focus on marking advances in attribution science, this session will examine recent advances in attribution science and explore refined approaches to transcend the limits of existing techniques.
