Advancements in Adaptation Science to Support Sustainable Water Quality Management Posters

Session Description:
Global change will have direct and cascading effects on water quality. Reducing the risk of harmful impacts requires management responses informed by the best available science. Several challenges remain in developing adaptation information necessary to support water quality management. These include nonlinear and abrupt changes, differing levels of confidence in future projections at spatial and temporal scales relevant to resource managers, interaction with land use and water management, and variability in the effects of management activities on water quality in different regional and watershed settings. This session addresses knowledge gaps to implement effective adaptation actions for protecting water quality in the long term. The session includes methods and case studies that demonstrate ways to provide science information responsive to user needs and complex decision-making challenges.
