Seasonal Sea Ice and Snow Under Change: Using in Situ Measurements, Remote Sensing, and Modeling to Understand Processes and Properties Across Scales Posters

Session Description:
Arctic sea ice has declined in thickness and extent over recent decades and is shifting toward a seasonal ice regime, while Antarctic sea ice has exhibited high variability. The physical properties and processes of sea ice are changing in ways that we do not fully understand and may not be well represented in models despite significant impacts on ocean and atmosphere states. Understanding these interactions is critical for advancing our knowledge of sea ice in the changing Earth system. In this session, we welcome remote sensing, field, laboratory, and modeling studies addressing processes or properties of seasonal sea ice and the cascading interactions with the atmosphere or ocean. A particular focus of this year’s session is on scaling and linkages. We strongly encourage abstracts to consider how their work nests within the range of spatial scales at which sea ice change is occurring and linkages to the larger Earth system.
