Integrating Socioeconomics and Governance into Studies of Food and Water Systems Posters

Session Description:
In recent years there has been increased recognition of the critical need to incorporate socio-economic and governance (SEG) aspects into studies of agricultural and water systems. Despite its necessity, the integration has been proven to be challenging because biophysical and SEG simulation tools often function at different spatial and temporal scales, critical SEG drivers can be hard to identify and quantity, application of SEG studies might be limited to specific situations, and interactions among different components and feedback processes are not fully understood. This session will highlight challenges and successes in integrating social, economic, and domestic and international political elements into different biophysical platforms including physically-based, system dynamics, and empirical models.  We invite abstracts related to characterization of essential drivers to consider, characterization of challenges encountered in integration, case study applications, and policy-making perspectives.
