Research, Risk Analysis, Monitoring, Forecasting, and Mitigation of Natural Hazards in a Dynamic, Changing World Posters

Session Description:
Recent natural hazards such as mud flows, landslides, severe storms, floods, droughts, and wildfires led to multibillion dollar losses and occur more in frequency and intensity. Remote sensing, and geospatial science facilitates better understand people, land, coasts, infrastructure, and weather for improved disaster response. This session will consider studies, new research, monitoring, assessment, data, and tools to combat losses from hazards, such as: (1) analysis of climate extremes driving, drought, land degradation and recovery; (2) Non-stationary analysis of hydroclimatic data; (3) interrelationships between floods, drought and climate; (4) Vulnerability of businesses; (5) Hydrologic dynamics in glacier dominated watersheds; (6) Risk analysis of climate extremes; (7) Hazard events under the influence of climate (ENSO); (8) Strategic and tactical response to weather and climate extremes through collaboration tools, adaptive strategies, insurance, and technologies; (9) environmental sustainability and capacity building; and (10) Suggested research projects for the risk community advancing knowledge.
