Session Description:
The compositional and structural evolution of the continental crust is one of the outstanding problems in the Earth Sciences. In particular, the generation of the felsic upper crust throughout Earth's history is fundamental to our understanding of continental growth and stabilization. Questions such as the temporal change in upper crust composition and how felsic rocks are formed in the modern day versus in the Archean/Early Earth remain to be answered. This session invites a broad range of studies related to the formation and current physical and chemical state of the felsic upper crust, with emphasis on studies which incorporate temporal and spatial change. We welcome field, petrological/geochemical, geophysical and modeling studies.
