PP23D:
Terrestrial Hydroclimate Variability in the Americas: Assessing Causes and Impacts Using Proxies and Models Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 54102

Session Description:
This session is focused on quantifying the range of hydroclimate variability in North, Central, and South America. With climate change and the ever-growing demand for limited water resources, it is increasingly important to evaluate the long-term character, causes, and environmental consequences of hydroclimate change. Paleo-record development and synthesis studies are critical for characterizing the spatiotemporal patterns in climate on geological timescales. We encourage submissions that focus on: 1) climate proxy records developed from tree rings, lake cores, ice cores, caves, etc., that address the spatiotemporal patterns and magnitude of hydrological changes 2) proxy sensitivity such as seasonality, timescales of change, biological effects etc., and 3) model experiments investigating external forcing mechanisms and intrinsic variability in the climate system. Synthesis studies that focus on multiple records and/or incorporate model simulations are especially welcome.
