Session Description:
The 8th Annual Meeting of the Permafrost Carbon Network (PCN) is an open science meeting that brings together more than 100 scientists from the US, Europe, and Asia. The PCN produces new knowledge through research synthesis and links terrestrial ecosystems (boreal forest, tundra, and peatlands) with the cryosphere. During the Annual Meeting, short scientific presentations about individual syntheses will inform the community about where the science stands and where it is headed while breakout discussions actively involve meeting participants in topics that are related to permafrost carbon and the consequences to the global system. Many of the synthesis leads are early or mid-career scientists and the Annual Meeting is a unique opportunity to receive direct feedback from the research community.
