IN41E:
Research Data Management: Developing Standards for Data Usability and Trust and Building Capacity with Targeted Data Training for the Research Team Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 57371

Session Description:
Data use and re-use relies on good data management curation, practice and capacity building which includes knowledge of how to achieve reliable access, provide documentation and metadata, find proper storage and archiving options, and other skills development related to research and data lifecycles.  Investment and planning are required to ensure that the project team as a whole, and individual team members, have the requisite data skills for all stages of the research lifecycle, and have knowledge of the different standards that are being developed to allow users to judge whether a use of a dataset is appropriate for use.  This session will explore capacity building approaches for research teams from several angles, including PI perspectives on needs, and implementation of data management practices, standards and procedures in general, and particularly for data usability.
