A Spectral View of Aerosols, Clouds, and Earth Energy Budget: From Model Evaluation to Process Studies and Planning Climate Change Observations I Posters

Session Description:
Spectral signatures of aerosols and clouds impacting on radiation serve as the foundation for satellite remote sensing of aerosol and cloud properties. However, it remains unclear the extent to which the long-term change of aerosol, clouds, their interactions, and their impacts on Earth energy budget can be modeled, observed, and detected from a spectral point of view. This session seeks investigations of the utility of spectral information in understanding long-term change of aerosol and cloud properties using modeled results, ground-base and satellite observations.  Of equal interest are also the studies in the spectral domain that seek to characterize the spectral signature and fingerprints manifesting the underlying processes of aerosols, clouds, and their interactions.  Finally, this session seeks presentations that address innovative approaches to planning and prioritizing future climate change observations including those reaching beyond spectral observations of aerosols and clouds.
