Session Description:
Estimating the impact of climate change on both the natural and socio-economic environment plays an important role in informing a range of national and international policies, including energy, agriculture and health. This role is typified by the use of the Social Cost of Carbon (SCC) by the US federal government since 2008.
A wide range of methods exist to evaluate this impact including econometric methods of time series, panel and spatial analysis, and process models. These methods allow for the exploration of anthropogenic impact upon climate and vice versa and improved understanding of the drivers of climate change by addressing problems often neglected in traditional time series analysis, from spurious correlations to the detection of changes in trends.
This session will focus on papers that advance the state of the science in estimating the economic and physical impacts of climate change, and hence support improvements to future policy analysis.
