Science for a New Era of Lunar Exploration I

Session Description:
New science results amassed from data returned by recent lunar missions, including LRO, provide new perspectives on the lunar surface and environment. It is clear that the Moon has significant resource potential, including volatiles and minerals, that could be exploited for the exploration of the Moon as well as deep space. The challenge is to utilize the new data and science results to locate and evaluate lunar resources, identify and characterize high-priority landing sites, plan landings, and operate on the surface or in cis-lunar space. This session will highlight research that either develops tools or uses data or science results at various scales to enable or enhance the planning of future exploration and candidate landing sites. Results that characterize lunar resources or enable their utilization are particularly encouraged.
