Session Description:
This session will consist of two panel discussions.
The first hour, the discussion will be on "Clouds in tropics: Stochasticity and organization, observation and simulation."
The second hour will be the panel discussion "Frontier sciences and technologies at ground-based neutral atmosphere observatories". For decades, ground-based observatories have been developed worldwide for probing the atmosphere from the surface up to the lower thermosphere. Active and passive remote sensing instrumentations have been playing key roles in providing crucial measurement capabilities of atmospheric variables and constituents. Major scientific facilities with these instruments have been supporting researchers to study the neutral atmosphere with high resolution and accuracy. In this session, we will discuss current research among such ground-based facilities, and address the need for international collaboration with the goals of promoting state-of-the-art technology and making plans for campaign collaboration and scientific data sharing.
