Comparative Planetology and Biosignatures from the Solar System to the Exoplanets I Posters

Session Description:
Nearly every planet within our solar system provides a unique baseline for different classes of exoplanets around other stars. This session seeks to understand exoplanets through comparative study with planets within our solar system and to address the habitability of our solar system neighbors and of exoplanets. We solicit new research in: using datasets from Earth and our neighbors as a reference case, studying the evolution of life's detectability on Earth through time, mitigating observational and biosignature detectability challenges, and assessing how planetary models may be expected to change for a planet formed under different circumstances around another star. A special focus is given to the consequences of tidal locking. Tidal locking may be common for terrestrial planets around G stars within Earth’s orbit and on most Earth-like planets around M-dwarf systems. For these exoplanets, tidal stresses may play a role in their geothermal heat fluxes and may influence habitability.
