Factors That Determine the Properties of Solar Energetic Particle Events I

Session Description:
Several factors may determine the spatial extent, intensity-time profiles, and composition characteristics of Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events in the heliosphere. These factors include the properties of the particle sources, the processes of particle acceleration and particle release in the corona and interplanetary space, the characteristics of the seed particle populations, the details of the magnetic connection established between the observing spacecraft and the particle source, and the processes of particle transport in the corona and interplanetary medium. We invite abstracts that discuss how to identify and characterize the impact of these individual factors on the properties of SEPs from both the observational and the modeling points of view. Studies using multi-spacecraft observations or discussing techniques that might take advantage of future near-the-Sun observations from Parker Solar Probe and Solar Orbiter are especially encouraged.
