Large-Scale Interplanetary Structures and Their Space Weather Effects II

Session Description:
Large-scale interplanetary structures, such as interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) and streaming interaction regions (SIRs), are known to be important sources of space weather events. Using remote observations from STEREO/SOHO/SDO and MHD simulations, the evolution and interaction of these large-scale plasma structures have been discussed widely in recent years. Meanwhile, the space weather effects of these structures have also been investigated using in-situ plasma and magnetic field observations, energetic particles measurements, and geomagnetic data. This session focuses on the following issues: (1) the dynamic evolution of these structures from Sun to Earth; (2) their in-situ measurement and solar cycle variation; (3) the physical processes and the remote and in-situ signatures of the interaction between these structures; (4) their space weather effects. We invite contributions covering these different topics, with a particular interest in those combining various observations and modeling techniques.
